35 Years | Leading the Brazilian Masterbatch Market

05 de fevereiro, 2025

One of the leading companies in plastic processing in Brazil, Colorfix Masterbatches will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2025. Based in the city of Colombo (RMC), Paraná, it was the first company in the state to break into this market, which until then was unknown or little explored. Since then, the company has grown and, with branches in São Paulo and Pernambuco, Colorfix has gained a national and international presence.

With an annual production of nearly 3,000 tons of specialized masterbatches, the company enjoys a portfolio of around 90,000 colors and additives, which promote the improvement of both products and processes for customers. Some of these products, such as the Marble line and the Revora brand, are already part of the collection of the prestigious Material Connexion Innovation Library, located in New York (USA), which has more than 10,000 material profiles, carefully selected to bring the most innovative trends and technologies in the world.

“We are proud to see our products recognized both inside and outside the country. We are constantly dedicated, from generation to generation, always with great respect for our customers, the law, integrity, and the standards of the projects we develop,” says Colorfix's managing director, Francielo Fardo.

According to the executive, the company follows modern management models applied in the market, with organization and a focus on sustainability. “We are entering our thirty-fifth year of operation with enthusiasm and certainty that we have much to develop ahead of us, contributing to society as a whole,” says Francielo, further emphasizing that “today, the company is modern, with a team that thinks and acts coherently, whether in the solutions to be presented or in the way of working together.”

Sustainability

Since 2010, Colorfix has been investing in a package of sustainable actions because, although plastic is a recyclable material, negligence in its disposal causes many people to consider it a villain for nature. “Therefore, educating and guiding people about conscious consumption, proper disposal, and also showing the importance of plastic to society are our main approaches to the topic,” points out Fardo.

For four years, Colorfix has participated in the Paraná Climate Seal (an initiative that recognizes good ESG practices developed by organizations in Paraná). In the recent 2024 edition, Colorfix was highlighted with the Seal in Category A, the highest classification of the award, which recognizes companies and entities that voluntarily declare their emissions (IGEE) and stand out for their practices aligned with the preservation of natural resources and ESG principles.

“This recognition reflects our ongoing effort to improve products, processes, and goals, generating more significant results for sustainability. This trajectory demonstrates our commitment to measuring, disclosing, and reducing our carbon footprint, in addition to validating the organization's concrete contribution to combating climate change,” says the superintendent director.

Among the actions that the company develops, the following stand out: maintaining all negative certificates in the environmental, labor, and tax areas; using energy from renewable sources from the free market, with the acquisition of I-RECs from wind energy; implementing internal environmental indicators, such as the reuse of effluents; developing sustainable products, such as the Revora line; support for social and environmental actions, such as the planting of native trees and the Revora Educa and Tampinhas Solidárias projects. In addition, the company keeps its relevant certifications up to date, such as ISO 14001, ISO 9001, the ODS 2023 Seal, and ESG and ISCC Certifications of Excellence.

Where it all began

The year was 1990, and Colorfix Masterbatches, now internationally recognized, was still called Marcopolo Móveis e Pigmentos Plásticos. Over the next ten years, the company remained the only one exclusively dedicated to the development of color concentrates (pigments/masterbatches) in the state, leaving the furniture market behind.

The initial trajectory was written by Ambrósio and Justina Fardo, who were at the helm of the business until 2009, when the company underwent a succession process, and their three children — Francielo, Judi, and Manoel Fardo — took over the management.

Currently, in addition to its headquarters in Colombo, in the Curitiba Metropolitan Region, Colorfix has two branches operating in different potential markets in Brazil: one in São Caetano do Sul (SP) and another in the Industrial District of Recife (PE). Together, these units employ around 250 people directly and dozens more indirectly.
