The manufacturing sector in different segments of the economy has gained a strong ally in reducing the carbon footprint (CO₂) of its activities. The innovation is being launched by Colorfix Masterbatches, a company from Paraná that has been operating in the plastics processing industry for 35 years and is making available this March a PCR compound, i.e., polypropylene (PP) produced from a percentage of recycled post-consumer resins, which has a negative carbon footprint in some of its products.
The Revora CO₂RE Carbon Reduced Line, as it is being called, is coming to market after numerous studies and analyses focused on reducing the carbon footprint not only in Colorfix's own structures, but also extending to its products, and promises to be something revolutionary within the processing industry. "We can classify it as something more than a product. It is a movement we are embracing for the future of our planet," says Francielo Fardo, managing director of Colorfix Masterbatches.
Colorfix is known in the market for providing environmental solutions in the field of plastic transformation. "Until then, this market had PLA (polylactic acid) as one of the best alternatives in relation to the environment because it is a renewable and biocompostable material, with a carbon footprint reaching 0.97. With Revora CO₂RE, we were able to take a leap forward. In addition to being a product made from recycled material, its carbon footprint can, in some cases, be negative, with very advantageous characteristics," points out Fardo.
In total, Revora CO₂RE has 11 different compounds aimed at a wide range of segments, such as packaging, general parts, decorative items, single-use products, decks, automobiles, agribusiness, packaging that does not come into contact with food, among others. The company even has a process underway at Innovation in Sustainable Materials – PCT Patent Application No. BR2025/050005.
